In order to train the next generation of journalists, the Dallas Public Library has partnered with The Dallas Morning News to offer “Storytellers Without Borders,” an 8-week program for high school students in which they are mentored in reporting skills by journalists and in the use of research databases by librarians (Banks, 2016). The library portion of the program also includes instruction in multimedia editing tools. The ultimate goal is for the students to learn how to create content that is not only highly credible but also engaging and reflective of the socioeconomic and cultural diversity of the city (Banks, 2016). Upon completion of the program, the students' stories are then presented at the Dallas Book Festival.

What is trustworthy news? According to The Trust Project (https://thetrustproject.org/), it is news that is “accurate, accountable, and ethically produced” (The Trust Project, 2017a). It is easy to understand that definition, but in order to clarify its meaning in relation to actual journalistic practice, Sally Lehrman, director of the journalism ethics program at Santa Clara University, partnered with over 75 media organizations to combine efforts to define and identify credibility and quality in reporting, as well as promote transparency (The Trust Project, 2017b). Driven by interviews with news consumers and their stated values and beliefs, The Trust Project developed “The Trust Indicators,” a set of questions to be answered by media outlets.
